Expo for OFW, SME families ends today at Araneta Center

An exposition which will ensure the transformation of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) into small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) ends at 7 p.m. today (March 19) at the Expo Centro (beside the Farmers Garden and opposite the Farmers Market), Araneta Center, EDSA, Cubao, Quezon City.

Organized by the Pamilyang Overseas Filipino Workers-Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Network Foundation, Inc. (POFW-SMENFI), the event entitled “Pamilyang OFWs-SMEs Summer Expo 2006” is the first international exposition of summer products and services for the OFW and SME families.

The expo features the Job and Livelihood Expo 2006 where thousands of overseas jobs are made available by recruitment agencies licensed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.

The Philippine Association of Service Exporters Inc., an association composed of 650 licensed recruitment agencies, said the following jobs are available: medical staff, information technology professionals, hotel workers, maintenance workers, construction workers, domestic helpers, skilled and technical workers, and service workers.

The POFW-SMENFI said the objective of the expo is to inform the OFW and SME families of the various job, livelihood, investment and business opportunities being offered by the government, private and non-government organization sectors.

The OFW and SME families as well as those interested to become OFWs or entrepreneurs will be treated with free seminars on livelihood and business opportunities, free medical and dental services, free legal advise, and affordable housing and business.
