Press Releases Sen. Angara at Seafarers, OFW Families Expo Opening
Sen. Edgardo Angara cites the importance of the remittances of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), including the seafarers, in the Philippine economy at the opening of the 3rd Filipino Seafarers Family Expo and Forum and the 2nd Pamilyang OFWs-Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Housing and Home Essentials Trade Fair last Friday at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) in Pasay City. Organized by the Pamilyang OFW-SME Network Foundation, Inc. (tel. no. 912-58-03), the twin events is the third of four events organized by the foundation this year. Back to top »» An exposition that will ensure the transformation into entrepreneurs of a majority of seafarers, and other overseas Filipino workers (OFWS), as well as their families will start today (Sept. 29) at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City. Sen. Edgardo Angara, chairman of the Senate Committee on Banks, Financial Institutions and Currencies, and Sen. Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada, chairman of the Senate Committee on Labor, Employment and Human Resource Development, are the guests of honor and keynote speakers at the opening ceremonies of the 3rd Filipino Seafarers Family Expo & Forum 2006 and the 2nd Pamilyang OFWs-SMEs Housing & Home Essentials Trade Fair 2006 which will start at 10 a.m. Both are expected to give an update on their Senate initiatives for the OFW and SME families. The other guest speaker is Mandaluyong City Vice Mayor Jesus Cruz who is also the president of the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP). He will talk on “The Role of the VMLP in Uplifting the Lives of the OFW Families.” Organized by the Pamilyang OFW-SME Network Foundation Inc. (tel. No. 912-58-03), the twin events is a one-stop-shop for job, livelihood, investment and business opportunities for seafarers, other OFWs and their families and is in support of the government's National SME Agenda. Future, vacationing and former OFWs, future, present and former entrepreneurs as well as their families will be treated with livelihood and business opportunities seminars, free medical and dental services, and free legal advise. POFW-SMENFI marketing director Rey Camota II said the must-see event for the OFW and SME families is supported by Aquaprime, China Bank, Camella Homes & Communities, Citibank, Globe Telecom/Innove Communications, Crown Asia, Ford (Libis), PLDT Internet Café+ and Primer Group of Companies as sponsors. Camella Homes, Crown Asia support expo for OFW, SME families The Pamilyang Overseas Filipino Workers-Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Network Foundation, Inc. (POFW-SMENFI) announced yesterday that Camella Homes & Communities and Crown Asia are joining as a sponsor in the foundation's two major events for the OFW and SME families this month at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City. POFW-SMENFI President George Arriola said the two events are the Filipino Seafarers Family Expo & Forum 2006 and Pamilyang OFWs-SMEs Housing & Home Essentials Trade Fair 2006 which will be held on Sept. 29-Oct. 1. The former is the 3rd Philippine exhibition and conference on job, livelihood, investment and business opportunities for the seafarers and their families while the latter is the 2nd Philippine exhibition on real estate projects and home necessities for the OFW and SME families. POFW-SMENFI Marketing Director Rey Camota II said Camella Homes and Crown Asia will promote and market its various housing projects for the OFW and SME families. Camota said the other real estate companies which will showcase their various housing and condominium projects at the three-day expo are Asiatic Development Corp., Britanny Corp., Century Communities Corp., Empire East Properties Inc., Filinvest-Alabang Inc., LCA Realty, New Aceland Properties, Inc., Nicolex Development Corp., Pacific Concord Properties, Pri-Ness Corp., Robinson's Land Corp., Raffles & Company Inc., Royale Homes Marketing Corp., RJ Lhinet Development Corp., Stateland Inc., SM Development Corp., Vasquez Building Systems Corp. and Yesca Builders.
